Does anyone else have reminiscent memories of the command line. Will it ever return ? Regardz Colin J Davies

Yes, I, too, use the command line every day. :) Jon Sagara "... where the beer flows like wine, and the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano ..."

Mike Mullikin :beer:Our lager, Who art in barrels, Hallowed be thy drink, Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk) At home as I am in the tavern, Give us this day our foamy head, And forgive us our spillages, As we forgive those who spill against us, And lead us not to incarceration, But deliver us from hangovers, For thine is beer, The bitter and the lager, Forever and ever, Barmen.:beer:

I use to love when I had some Joe behind me looking at the text scrolling up on the screen from the Prompt. Now Joe understands Windows stuff, so computer usage aint so kewl anymore. I use it in almost every utility I write! I like to be able to run my applications "GUI-less" from the command line when in a hurry.

I couldn't live (as efficiently as I do) without it. With tab completion, it's still the fastest way to sling files around my harddrives, and still the fastest way to upload changes to my webpages to my server. I traditionally have always had a directory c:\batch with dozens of batch files that make working on the command line even quicker. Most have to do with quickly changing to a directory that I commonly use, and with uploading files to various parts of my webserver by writing out a temporary script file that gets fed to ftp.exe -i I couldn't tolerate its disapperance :) - Jason (SonorkID 100.611) "The sort of guy who'd give the kid an extra scoop of ice cream free if he was an ice-cream man" - Nish, on Chris Maunder

****Colin Davies wrote: But does the general user still use it ? I don't think the general users ever used it. There were always wrappers of some sort, usually inserted to autoexec.bat or something. Those who didn't use menu wrappers memorized how to run the games/apps they used daily. Windows is probably why the computer became so popular among low level users. I still use it all the time. Microsoft seem to be burying it and the Windows Explorer deeper and deeper in the menus. Maybe in Windows.NET it'll be banished completely :(( But even so, I have faith that someone will come up with a replacement, 4NT or some such :) Bruce Duncan CP#9088, CPUA 0xA1EE, Sonork 100.10030

I read your signature and thought I would elaborate...
AdrianCooper *me = AdrianCooper::getSingleton();
House *theHouse = me->getHouse();
Fridge *theFridge = theHouse->getFridge();
Beer aBeer = theFridge->removeBeer();if(aBeer)
{
theHouse->getTV()->addObserver(me);do { me->consume(aBeer); aBeer = theFridge->removeBeer(); } while(aBeer); theHouse->getTV()->removeObserver(me);
}
That’s probably too much for a signature though. :)
