Has anyone here used the WMI APIs to write providers and actually gotten it to work (using unmanaged C++/COM)? Outside of the performance counter example here on CP, nothing I have tried (i.e. simple things like an instance provider) has worked. I have been struggling for days with it and I'm about to just give up and use something different. Is it really hard to work with or is it just me?

¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF!

You have to know how the data is organized. Most of it is moderately useful and I haven't seen anything describing the layout well. The one thing I've ever used it for is to display the Dell serial number of a system from the BIOS.

I don't think a Balrog could fit down there. It's already crowded enough, hell I'm thinking of charging rent! :)
