Ok, my wheel in my favorite mouse has died this morning. It's only when the wheel stops working when you realise how much you use it! I've previously tried tried a few others in the past (to replace this one), I've always gone back to this one. It's a Microsoft Wireless Optical 2.0 mouse, and I don't think they make them anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement? The criterea are: -Wireless -Symetrical (I'm left handed and use reversed buttons). -Have a wheel that preferably does horizontal + vertical scrolling. The photos of the new Microsoft wireless mice look like they are not symetrical - does anyone know if they are or not? It's like losing an old friend! Cheers, ChrisB

Ebay, I would bet someone has the same model for sale.

I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Doh. Of course. I guess I'll be bidding soon. Part of me says that mouse technology must have moved on in the last few years, but when I've tried a different one in the past, I've always ended back with the same one. What I need is a "try before you buy" on the new models. ChrisB

Mine certainly isn't - it's one of these[^] and it's so right handed that it fits mine perfectly :-) This new one, though, the Wireless Laser Mouse 8000[^] *does* look symmetrical. And if you can, get a laser mouse, they do work better than a standard LED based mouse. Honest!

I know this is a heresay, but on the off-chance you're in the UK get down to a PC World, they usually have most of the mice out on display to try (yes, they're worn, and slightly broken, but at least you can try the feel of it out), and then obviously go and buy it much cheaper off of t'internet.

totally unrelated , but I fully understand where you'recoming from on this one, I have been using a trackball optical mouse for the last 5 years , and I take it with me everywhere, I just can't use another mouse!! http://www.activewin.com/reviews/hardware/mice/trackopt/index.shtml I don't know if they make lefthanded models!! That said I also use the natural keyboard, again I can' type on a normal keyboard, as they just hurt my wrists!! and I just don't get on with normal keyboards!!

Now that is really unfair. I don't know PC World but exploiting their service and then buying somewhere else doesn't feel right :~ .

I tried this one at a store, it's symetric, the logictec MX610 fit my hand better though, so I ordered a left handed model off amazon, eta early next week.

I use this one too. Took a few days to get used to, but now I really like it.
