    True! And I'm not just a little angry about that. Our Firefighter's site got hacked the very last night and some stupid russian guys (at least the malicous code comes from russia) were killing at least 60% of our cms stuff and infected it with pron-links, allah is great and us-sucks stuff.... At least the server itself got it's problems, cause the hack is really good (which doesnt really comfort me) an no, we do not have the right backup to recover stuff in an appropiate way. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: Why are people do that? Is that the new cyber intifada or what? It's goin to take me two days to put the site back online...

          My sympathy to your case.... What surprises me the most though, is that most hackers from Russia are "good" hackers, in the sense that they dont really hack websites/do malicious things. They mostly hack programs to remove activation, reverse engineer them, or hack websites for sourcecode(yes, there are cases when source codes are stored on the website..stupid eh? but true) or for downloading full versions of programs, but they mostly dont do it for causing that kinds of trouble...especially to that kind of a site.

            That's why it hurts... We are firefighters, have a kind of a news-page there which has about 200 hits a day, we don't run any advertising and don't do any comercial thing. So we got hacked. Maybe we are not comercial enough for the internet-world... :^)

                Their job is to keep developers on their toes, so we build more secure apps. Unfortunately the net's not like the real world, where you can move to a safer suburbs and happily leave your doors unlocked :-)

                  May not be the best time to ask... but if you can also hint on the possible vulnerability that the hackers might have taken advantage of... it might be helpful for all of us to build more secure apps...

                    I assume it was like that:

                    // a group of stupid losers
                    Idiot[] crackers = new Zivilversager[x]; //Zivilversager is derived from Idiot

                    // want to do something to show off with at their school
                    object anything = cracker[0].CreateIdea().CommunicateTo(crackers);

                    // search the net for ready-to-use exploits
                    Program crack = cracker[1].UseGoogle(anything.GetNextWord());

                    //search any far away homepages because the owner must not live next door and
                    //non-commercial sites of small organisations or private persons are often less well protected
                    Victim target = cracker[3].UseGoogle(Homepage.Personal | Homepage.SmallOrganisation);

                    // show off
                    cracker[3].GetOneVictim().CommunicateTo(crackers);
                    cracker[1].GetOneDownloadedTool().CommunicatoTo(crackers);

                    // get drunk
                    foreach(Idiot idiot in crackers)
                    {
                    vodka.InsertInto(idiot);
                    }

                    // do stupid things

                      Perhaps your site inadvertantly said something to offend them, but more likely your was chosen simply because (I'm assuming) it had a known vulnerability.
