It's Friday! + last week's update
-
I am so pumped for this weekend. :) On Sunday, I will be running my final half-marathon[^] of the year. For the last nine weeks, I have been training harder than I ever have. Each morning I've run six miles or more and on the weekends, I've been increasing the distance up to twelve miles. In September alone, I've run over 150 miles. I'm so ready. My personal best is only around 2:09 which I expect to better, but if conditions work well, I'm hoping to do it in under two hours. Wish me luck. :-D

What are you doing this weekend? :) My week has been horrible. The release went as scheduled, but we found a bug in production that corrupts all files maintained by the application. X| We haven't been able to diagnose the root cause, but it happens exactly 6.5 hours after the service starts. So we wrote a second service that restarts said service every 5 hours as a temporary measure. I'm hoping it works out. I've had an insane amount of pressure this week. :sigh: Nothing to look forward during the weekend either - though it's a 3-day weekend (02-10-2006 is Gandhi Jayanthi, a national holiday), I'm doing production support. That means I'll be stuck at home, hoping nothing goes wrong in the prod boxes halfway around the world. :( On a brighter note, I won the corporate quiz last Friday.
Cheers, Vikram.

Congrats! :-D I'm travelling around doing a bunch of geocaching this weekend. Dropping off a travel bug tonight up in the North Carolina, heading out tomorrow morning around town with a friend to find a cache another friend of ours hid (among others). Then Sunday walking around downtown Greenville to find some more caches with family.

What type of quiz and what was the prize?
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -Brian Kernighan

Putting in a new ceiling fan in the bedroom. The hub broke on the old one and blades came flying off at 1:32 AM. What a way to wake up early.

General quiz. 1st prize was 1000 bucks worth gift voucher from Landmark. I already bought books for 500. :->

Audio stuff? IIRC a total bytes counter for 48kHz/16bit/stereo overflows after about that time. (DirectSound has a bug there.. ) Or maybe some similasr counter.

Tonight, supper with mom'n'dad at a Spanish Basque restaurant, after that, maybe will meet up some friends for some alcool and music abuse. Tomorrow, depending on the previous night abuse, will probably go to the farmer's market and fill up on fresh veggies and fruits and cheese and charcuterie and all those good things mother earth give us. sunday, I have a wine tasting event that will feature only dry sherry from the Emilio Lustau House, with Tapas; that will be fun.

Wow! I guess the upside is that you woke up from the noise and not from a blade lodged in your throat X| (well... I'm assuming that's the case?)

Well my week, has been a bit of a mixed bag this week!! Talk about a week, of all different surprises. Monday I got confirmation that I will be starting a new long contract with a really good company, which was preceded by my wife informing me she is pregnant, which was topped today by my present company that is currently contracting me, that they have sold out to another company, and that the other company would like to permanently employ me?? so A real mixed bag!! (I haven't told them yet that I am about to terminate my contract!!)

I finished my OCaml and XQuery homework (CSE 130 - Programming Languages and CSE 131A - Compiler Construction) last night around 2 am. (Couldn't sleep. So I stayed up and worked on homework.) So this weekend is entirely free. I'm about to go to work for today, then I'll head up to campus to have a long dinner with friends. Tomorrow I'm probably going to go play Halo 2 at another friend's house and who knows what else. All in all, a relaxing weekend. :)
And I get on my knees and pray. We don't get fooled again.
