        depends if the 1sec time is for the CCD to actually make the image, or to read the image from the chip into memory.

          I think for the CCD to take the image. Else they would not be talking so much about the 1 second issue. That would then just be a slow FPS for the camera.

            Yep, but they say its for panaromic landscapes so should not be a problem.

              yikes. Did they get that resolution by using insanely small pixels instead of an insanely larger chip? The tiny pixels don't really fit with the 48bit image depth though since the number of electrons that can be stored in a tiny pixel before saturation is so low.

                It's a scanning sytem, a 6cm and 7500 pixel high linear sensor that mechanically moves across the image plane in one second.
