Vultures at work
-
Literally, not figuratively. While some places have mice or ants at work, we have Vultures. They show up everyday in the atrium of one of the buildings at work. We’re not sure why they started showing up, they just did. When vendors or customers come in it seems like they all get a tour of the Vultures if they're on the ledge at that time. While some speculate that it’s because it’s around Performance Review time, I think that they just feel at home with our companies management style. Does anyone else have any interesting creatures show up at their work? Foxes, badgers, cows and hunting dogs. Had em all wandering around the building, getting into the parking lot etc. Pretty weird for a city boy working in farm land I tell you. None of the native Irish at work seem to notice them.

eh, stop bugging me about it, give it a couple of days, see what happens.

Maybe the vultures know something you don't, do they give you the evil eye ?

I thought you were referring to the personal ethics of some of the staff at first...:->

We have these strange noisy creatures. I am not even sure what they are. They walk two legs and seem to spend most of their time talking gibberish into their phones. They seem to be pointless, but harmless, and we have herded them into one corner where they seem content to stay most of the time. We call them the marketing department, and sometimes we throw peanuts at them.
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.

Oh, there's so many jokes that could be made there! "Those vultures are our management advisors." "Meet BOFH[^]'s special envoy." "Management has no soul so the vultures come because they think they're dead." etc. ;P The animals that come around here are a dog and 2 cats. :-) I work at home and they keep me company.

Last place I worked had 2 or 3 wild turkeys that roamed around the parking lot. Sometimes they'd gang up and attack cars as they tried to leave.
And then you had turkey for dinner, right?

We've tried it in the past, but they are like cockroches. For everyone you smash to a bloody pulp, another two just seem to appear in their place.

Squirrels, sparrows, dead mice, fleas...OK, that last one isn't proven - just very strongly suspected.

First, thanks for the link to BOFH, it looks pretty goos. Second, I thought of a lot of the jokes, too. That's why I posted it!

My desktop background is a photo of turkey vultures I shot a few weeks ago, perched in a tree near our southern powerline river crossing. There are about 70 of them who make their homes in or near two burned out trees on this site, and it's a perfect backdrop for vultures. One day when I have a website up and running again I'll post the photo.:-D
