Stupd freight company
-
So, it's 4 weeks since I reported my Samsung monitor as faulty. They finally shipped a replacement. I got a con note and called the freight company. This was at around 8:30. They just called back. At 8:40, the delivery man was AT MY GATE. But, he was too STUPID to work out how to open it ( or, because it's a long driveway, he was scared to find out if I have big dogs, perhaps ). So, he left a card saying 'you were not home' and drove the 30 minutes back to the depot. He told his supervisor my gate was locked. It doesn't lock, nor is the mechanism complex. I told them I need it today. I do - they are sending another company out tomorrow to pick up the old one. I called back, and told them an alternative is that my wife works in town. They said 'oh, she can come and pick it up then ?'. I can't say how I responded to that in this forum. Why would she go in ? They were being offered the chance to deliver it within a 1 klm radius, instead of a half hour drive, and they want her to go in there ? So, they are hopefully delivering it to my wife, who then has to lug it home. But, we'll see what transpires.

Sounds like freight companies are the same world wide. Is there a defective gene that only surfaces in people drawn to that profession?

Yeah, the one that gives intelligence. It's also defective in telemarketers (actually, any marketing people) and road workers.

I've had a certain next day business freight company that is very popular in the UK try to pull that on me many times now. I was expecting some deliveries one day and they hadn't arrived by 5pm. When I phoned up to ask where they were I was told that they had tried to deliver at some point in the day but there was no one there. I begged to differ (I was on site) and having had CCTV installed a few weeks prior I told them I would check the footage and have a word with the original shipper - their client - if I was correct. (I'm not going to sit through 8 hours of recording to find what I already knew - no one had tried the delivery.) The next morning at exactly 8:00am - the earliest time they will deliver - they delivered, and they sneakily slipped missed delivery cards in the mail box dated the day before. The last part was so incredulous that I could not believe it -- so I checked the video and saw what I had suspected: the driver wrote out and posted the cards immediately before ringing the bell. I phoned up their registered (head) office and had a moan, big-time, telling them the driver and route number, and offering to send them the video. They declined but promised to look into it. I've not heard anything back, but to date that frieght company have not tried to pull the same stunt. Companies like that seem to think that their time obligations are optional when inconvienient, they don't consider that other people might be working to deadlines too.

10 PRINT 'HELLO MAINTAINER: GOTO HELLMy best experience to date was with a set of builders merchants, I ordered two 4'x8' plaster boards from them, and they promised to deliver on Saturday morning. I waited in all morning and at 5 to twelve (Midday being the time they close) I rang and asked where my boards were. The manager said they'd left them outside as there was no-one in. I told him a) I'd been in all morning waiting, and b) there were no boards outside. He got the driver and asked him where he delivered, to which he said Longford Road West. I had quite clearly told them I live on Longford Road (there is a difference, it's a pain). The manager asked him why he'd delivered there to which the driver replied that the invoice said to deliver to Longford Road. :wtf: It was pointed out that Longford Road West != Longford Road, but the driver couldn't grasp this. Luckily they sent someone else to collect the boards from the original drop off point, and bring them to my house.
