OK, so my ear infection drama continues. I went to the chemist, showed him what I have and what I had before. He agrees that what I have now is useless, as the infection is fungal. I had also googled this information and asked my mother in law ( the nurse ), hence my presence at the pharmacy. I can't buy this medicine without a prescription. So, I call my doctor to ask for one. But, although he is very helpful and nice about me second guessing him via google, ( and I'm very apologetic and quick to say I'd have tried his drops if not for my trip in 6 days ), he is insisent that the drops he gave me are anti fungal. At which point, I feel kind of silly. He's wrong, but how do I tell the doctor that I know he's wrong because I googled it ? I muttered something about feeling more comfortable with what worked before, he said fine, so it's all good. But, it's also been a real pain.

You don't see a WTF in spawning hundreds of threads ?? Or using code found on places like codeproject.com in production applications ... Code that is most likely untested, or barely test, more often than not, not made by reputable developers/development groups/etc ?? .... Wow ...---WTF

I have the anti fungal now. If the doc had refused to give it, I would have pressed the issue with him. As it stands, I felt awkward about telling him that he is wrong.

why? coz hes a "doctor" and should thus be respected and never questioned? stuff that people makes mistakes - you did your research and he stuffed up if he'd not have taken it well then i'd have gone and found another quack :) or i'd have had the argument with him...mind you you're nicer than i am well done for standing your ground. what would have you said if it'd been a sproglett of yours the Quack stuffed up on? bryce

well, doctors are only human, and not god as some of them like to think - at least you seem to have found the stuff that helps you, and I wont have nightmares about you screaming in pain on the plane if you want to keep seeing the same doctor, I'd print the respective page of the mims and take it to him next time you're there - if he still doesnt admit it, you really have to decide if its worth while going to another doctor or wether you're always going to be second guessing this one's medications, which, as someone points out may affect the kid(s) (have a great time at the concerts anyway) 'g'

Ears? :eek: A little complicated. You know few months ago my friend had some kinda pain in one of his ears. He consulted a doctor and got a drops for it. He continued using it for a week and then he stopped using it suddenly. I asked him why he did so. He told me that it's written like "For Eyes & Ears" :eek: . How on earth the same medicine can work for both the organs? He's consulting different doctors & getting different drops but he still has the pain. :sigh:

It's your health; your life. You have every right to challenge him and because you're bright enough to understand you should not accept anything less than full disclosure. You should look around for a new doc until you find one who treats you as a peer and the intelligent person you are.

I wonder what his doctor would tell him if he told him about his plans to attend Def Leppard in LA, then fly to Toronto and attend Iron Maiden, then fly back to SF and attend a joint concert by Aerosmith and Motley Crue, all in a space of 2 1/2 weeks! :rolleyes:
