Ok a quick question now. I am dying to ask you guys this question. What would you do if at work, your boss asks (orders actually) you to UNINSTALL FIREFOX. Yes thats right, you've heard it right. UNINSTALL FIREFOX. He was saying it creates some "compatibility issues". I wish I could kick him in the shin. Give him a sound beating or what ever. But Never mind about that I'll do that once I quit the Job. Firefox rules.

I will not post about it in CP.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. -Brian Kernighan

        Punch him in the mouth.

I'd question the "compatibility issues" but at the end of the day, its the company's IT policy and they can do what they want with their own equipment.

Yes that is true to a certain extent, but still it is the browser of my choice and I must at least be able to keep it.

Our IT department says we can't have FireFox on our machines, but a portable version on a USB drive isn't on the machine. It seems IT controls a lot of companies. Our IT had a cow when I changed their company standard "ra-ra" screen saver to my BSOD screen saver. It might have been because I had to do it through the registry since they made the screen saver tab of the Display panel not allow it.

Boss: Would you please uninstall FF from your machine? Me: No, I wouldn't. Boss: The machine you work on is not your property. You need to uninstall FF. Me: Nope. Boss: So, you'd rather lose your job than uninstall it? Are you so much in love with FF? Me: No, I don't even like it. Boss: Then, why are you not going to uninstall it? Me: I don't have it installed in the first place.

Yup that is indeed the correct answer like somebody else said a work PC is not your property. It is also not necessarily this bosses property but as long as they remain your superior then it is closer to being their property then yours. Now if this Boss is the actual owner then you really had better find a new employer that is more to your liking. Hey I have left when I disagreed but I don't even bother to think about violence against a superior or even someone below me in organizational ranking. By the way FF is better then IE but not that much better...

I'd QUIT. Or I'd RENAME THE EXE AND HOPE HE DOESN'T NOTICE. Or, I'd act my age and do what I was told. It's his PC, his network and his job. So, suck it up.

Yes that is true to a certain extent, but still it is the browser of my choice and I must at least be able to keep it.

Which part of the employer/emploee relationship is lost on you ?

Ok a quick question now. I am dying to ask you guys this question. What would you do if at work, your boss asks (orders actually) you to UNINSTALL FIREFOX. Yes thats right, you've heard it right. UNINSTALL FIREFOX. He was saying it creates some "compatibility issues". I wish I could kick him in the shin. Give him a sound beating or what ever. But Never mind about that I'll do that once I quit the Job. Firefox rules.

Well I'd  at him then I'd  at him. Then I'd ;) and uninstall it. I'd let that be the end of it. Tomorrow when I came back to work I'd have it on my thumb drive (the portable version) and I'd use it when I felt like it. If he asked about it I'd explain that it's not installed and poses no threat to compatibility. If he says no to that then I'd probably get up and walk out. I hate people who are *that* insecure and I could never tolerate working for some wacko-weenie like that. - Rex
