I am not a Poker player, but two guys whom I went to school with are major share holders of PartyPoker.com and are(were?) billionaires. I am sure they are not happy with the anti-gambling legislation.

Only my opinion, but you will be better-off putting your money into a Pension Policy, or a Savings Account, or National Savings, or anywhere else where there is a guaranteed return on investments.

Politicians never cease to amaze me with their stupidity and arrogance. This legislation seriously annoys many people not just in the USA but across the world. Well the USA is about to find out that it cannot govern the internet. I think this legislation is farcical, and will end up in international courts. It will get nasty. When billions of pounds are at stake, as they are here, you can be sure of a backlash. I smell trouble :^)

I really don't care one way or the other. I'm holding out a slim hope that it'll result in a small reduction in blog spam, but that sort of blind optimism rarely sees fulfillment.

Probably right I can't be bothered with gambling games anyway all ripoffs. Still I think they were jerks to signoff on this dumb legislation when there is more usseful Internet legislation that they could work on (like allowing the total blockage of spam) They probably (stupidly) thought they were doing a good thing and protecting innocent victims but as usual... wrong type of legislation.

On my way in this morning a couple deer ran out of a cornfield and across the road in front of me. It wasn't too close (I had plenty of time to slow down) but the interesting part was that the first deer out was HUGE. He stopped in the road while the smaller deer crossed. He was looking at my truck like "OK, I'll take out this idiot in the pick-up while you cross." :omg:

I play online poker for fun from time to time. Not very seriously. One thing that discourages me from online poker for real money is my lack of understanding the controls and auditing in place. For example what is really to prevent a programmer to have the ability to enter some sort of querystring code on startup that allows him to see all the cards on the table? Would you trust an accounting auditor to certify that the program was coded properly? When there is this much money at stake who really knows what is possible. Any others out there that feel the same? Cheers, David

It is a fair comment. The truth is there are no controls in place. The saving grace is that these operations are businesses, any unscrupulous poker site will be found out, and go out of business. Overnight if any unfair play was actually proven. On the topic of being able to see all the cards on the table, it is as far as im aware for all the major sites, practically impossible. This is because data packets are only sent on a need to know basis, because your computer does not need to know, and the information is not accessible, it just isnt there. The only way this is ever possible is via players colluding with several cheating players on the same table and/or using software called WinHoldem which is categorically banned from all online poker sites.

I imagine there could and may be some trickery going on with one or maybe more of these places not much to prevent it...
