Hey, I know this may seem extremely unlikely, but, are there any free Domain Name providers out there?

uhh...yeah. no they dont. they have free DOMAIN NAME TRANSFERRING, which is not the same as providing free domain names. and any company that charges for domain transferring is assholes - its free and doesnt require much on the DSN system level. jsut a few writes to teh table, is all. OT: AFAIK there are no free domain names. The one I use is dynadot.com[^]. IIRC its about $12-13 a year. They have hosting too, but I host my site on one of my home machines.

Yahoo at one point allowed you to register a domain name for as low as $2.99 smallbusiness.yahoo.com or something like that AFAIK their yearly renewal is $9.95 (that's my latest bill atleast :-D )

uh huh but come on!! $2.99 is still really really low!! On the other hand, lots of sites give free domain registration if you host with them. perhaps that might interest you? OR you could just spend on the domain name and host with Google. For FREE:-D http://www.google.com/a

You can get .tk domains for free (they automatically expire though if it doesn't get much traffic) I've used them in the past for disposable domains, and they seem pretty reliable, although it's a frame based forwarding thing. I guess you can't complain when it's free dot.tk/[^]

You can get an xxx.eu.org for free. Just go to eu.org. Beware - you HAVE TO have a DNS service ready. But you can use everydns.net for this. HTH, -Marcin

                  It's only a few pounds/dollars a year for a domain. Elaine :rose:

I'm not the OP. I'm not the one looking for a domain or hosting...if you were talking to ME when giving suggestions, that is.
