Oh Wesley...

Well, if you want to start a revolt against taxes, there are two of us - maybe three with Wesley. As I recall, slavery begins when a lord extracts more than half your earnings. I'm practicing my "yes mi lord" 'cause they're taking more than 50%! The only reason tax freedom day is April 26th is that people cheat on their taxes and the study dosen't count the rest. How do we go about getting half the tax payers to revolt? I don't think the IRS will much care but the politicians will.

Just what income bracket are you in ? I make well into the 6 figures and I don't pay near that much and my accountant is honest as heck when calculating my taxes. I have monies from investments and savings as well as income from my work ( self employeed as far as the IRS is concerned ) so I pay the self employment tax as well. I stuff all I can into a SEP account and a 401 but that doesn't do a whole lot of good when your income exceeds a certain amount. If you are combining State taxes as well as Federal then you can vote with your feet and move to one of them real nice places like Texas which as no income tax - but they eat you alive on property taxes. Richard - waiting to win the lottery so I can go into semi-retirement - maybe

When your primary recreational pursuit is to stir up ill-will, then sure it is necessary.

Get a post office box and bank account in Texas. Have the PO box be your address, address for bank records, then have you checks direct deposited into the Texas bank account. Then use a bank debit card to draw out money or use the bank's on-line system to transfer funds.

Only someone with ill-intentions could possibly see ill-will in that.

Well the majority of my tax burden is Federal. We have no State tax in Texas. We have a pretty large property tax but it is reducible by getting a homestead exemption. For example on a 100,000 home in Dallas you would pay about 2900 a year in property tax. The homestead exemption reduced that to around 1900. Sales taxes vary from town to town, In Dallas we pay a little over 7%. But many items are exempt from sales taxes. I estimate that my total tax burden is around 40% with that FIC taking up most of that. Richard

I know. I used to have a small rental in Garland ( roughly a 75,000 property ) and between Dallas County, Parkland and GISD taxes it cost me 2,400 per year.

Of course you've gotten the hi-5 and the rail that'll take you from Plano to Ft. Worth. I agree, re: the 40% total, if in Texas. Indiana costs me a little more because of state (and for God's sake, county) income tax. My wife makes a decent income as well and we pay thru the nose.

No, you have made that pretty clear, all by yourself. There is no other explanation for half of the drivel you post here. Technically, the reason could be that you're a idiot (in medical terms). But since you seem to have a proper vocabulary, it would seem that you have at least an average IQ, which means only one thing: You're an idiot wannabe. :)

ya, learned it from the Nigerians. I actually know someone who did something similar to this in the late 70s / early 80s. They relocated to Mass. from Texas for a 3 year assignment. They maintained their Texas existence and avoided Mass. state income taxes.
