We are thinking about setting up a SharePoint server for a distributed development team. Is anyone currently doing this? I was wondering how reliable SharePoint is, does it crash/require reboots often? Thanks!

On a decent machine and properly setup WSS 2.0 or SPS (SharePoint versions) should be very reliable. I did a little, WSS is good for shared Project Documents you can set group permission to control who reads and who can write to a document. You can set it to save revisions of a document so if there are issues with a document you can recapture the previous version etc.. Worth looking into... you could also look at Project Server which is geared towards some of that though it helps if you have a knowlegable MS Project user to work with.

      Where did my glasses go...

We are going to go to Project eventually, but right now the Powers That Be tm want to test out SharePoint on us. Oh well, at least I'm going to get the chance to write Web Parts. Which reminds me, I've gotta learn this ASP.NET thing one of these days... :)
