Unless it automatically (and without an option to disable), converts "ur" and "u" to "your" and "you" then it's useless.

Built-in spell checker. Why? Does it fix typos in the web pages I visit?

*much better extension update handling(got to use it to see the difference).* *search suggestion from search toolbar as well(the way you got suggestion from google/answers.com website) *sessionsaver build into browser. *spell checker This does not really effect me, but good in general *phishing protection(uses blacklists stored at the system, so each URL that you access does not go to any third party). I just got it. I must say, this has the UI of a poor IE7 copy cat. I say that as an avid FF user of 2+ years. It looks like they tried to copy some of the metallic, shiny look of IE7 and did a bad job of it. Shiny and battleship gray/brown doesn't work very good. Oh well, I guess I can install a new theme. I do like the spell checker though. I'm typing this post and it's underlining any misspelled words. Pretty cool.

no, but the emails(web based mail)/blogs/forum posts/comments I write can use some spell checking for sure. Very similar to MS word spell checker, but does not do grammar. Red lines appear for spelling mistakes in textareas, right clicking it give suggestions (along with the option to add to dictionary).

I think he should actually be dissing the default theme rather than the UI in general. I've been using FF2 betas and RCs on my Linux box at home and I actually like the FF UI. Much, much better than IE 7.

Nope, keeps reporting that the "connection to the server was reset". Grrrr..... Could be an "internal" issue. Unless someone knows a good mirror - I'll just grab it from home tonight.

Bah. As far as I'm concerned, the only time a spellchecker comes in handy is when I see it replace "teh" with "the" as I'm typing a little faster than I should. Otherwise, I always keep 'em disabled.

Good for you. I have got into such a bad habit of spell checking, auto-complete and code highlighting that I make some really silly mistakes when I am writing on paper.

You haven't installed an add-in yet for your pencil that automatically corrects this stuff? Or are you having pencil / paper incompatibility problems? Maybe there's some updates or service packs on the web you may be able to download.

Yeah, it was kind of funny to me a few days ago. After installing Vista I needed to reinstall my Nero Express that came with my DVD burner. Could not find that CD, but did find many other versions of the Nero CD burner. I finally gave up and for yucks sake, tried the installed copy I grabbed from my old system. Much to my shock, it worked, well... Just a few days later it started prompting my for my name and serial number. I contacted Ahead company to obtain my serial number (since I was a registered user) and they said they could only give it to me if I provided them a proof of purchase that listed the free OEM Nero Express on the form along with the DVD burner (New Egg did not have it listed like that on the recipe) and a photocopy of the Install CD. If I had the Install CD I would have my serial number.. Anyway, I went online searching for a hacked serial for my version of Nero (hey, I am the legal owner anyway : ) and when I went to visit one of the sites, IE 7 give me a page warning me that the site I was about to visit could corrupt my computer, steal my first born and make my hairless for life (okay, the last two were not actually on the screen). It just felt too strange to have software watch out over me. Almost like someone was standing in the room looking over my shoulder. I know, it will probably help a lot of people, but I did not expect that from my browser :)

Actually, I do not mine the UI on IE7 now that I have switched to Vista. Kind of grows on you. I know in the beginning, I kept trying to hunt for the refresh button :)

want me to upload it for you somewhere? I have windows/Linux US-en setup with me. BTW would I be violating some agreement if I did that?

Thanks but I had no problems getting it from home. Must be a work "firewall" thingy.
