I've seen some pretty odd articals out there with 1 vote for a 5. Then I noticed the radio buttons appear on my own articals for me. I didn't try it but presumable I could rate my own artical a 5. I know that if the artical stinks the average brings down the self inflicted 5 but it will skew the results.

So people don't create dummy accounts to vote their own stuff up... oh wait.

I see it as a limited weapon against asshole voters. The voting system works fairly well in the long run, but the short run is a bit "luck based". (I rather have it this way than the other way 'round). One suggestion to balance the short term behavior: Every article starts out with one or two "3" votes.

I've said it before... article endorsments. If I see CPians I respect saying something good about an article, I don't care about the rating. Alternatively, make voting public. See who votes what from now on.

            Two remarks come to mind:

            • Why can presidential candidates vote in the presidential elections? ;P
            • It really still is representative of the opinions of CPians because, after all, the person who wrote the article is a CPian too. ;P

OTOH, you'll never get the real picture when you do that. :suss:

Well of course. I was being sarcastic, as in I can't think of a good reason it's allowed.
