hmmmm... we don't really have them, but they look nice on business cards. Given the presence of a hollywood team of visual experts and 3D visualization experts from across the country I think it is time I change mine from "Computer Programmer". Work doesn't care, as long as you don't lie, or the title denotes a seniority (we're a flat organization, mostly all peers). So now I am in search of a job title.... (or subtitle) Computer programmer/3D specialist? any ideas?... yeah I know... creativity is easier in 3D graphics than tooting my own horn.

Well, you probably aren't moving to another company anytime soon, but the title might have an effect on salary. Engineer seems to qualify for more than programmer. Personally I like Code Monkey. Will eat bugs for food.

Sounds WAY too much like MediaMonkey or SeaMonkey! Haven't you heard that "Computer Programmer" as a job title is obsolete because it's too generic? "Software Engineer" is now the proper term, because you're "Engineering" (building) software!

Engineer is no less generic than programmer. You are also programming a computer.

Those don't mean anything to me. Code monkey does. As when they expect you to be another monkey banging away at the keys whilst disregarding your input.

Actually, salary is based on the department I am in and experience/training/degree. Ironically my department is Engineering. How is "3D Software Engineer/Architect" (I just "borrowed" it from Monster.com)

hmmmm... we don't really have them, but they look nice on business cards. Given the presence of a hollywood team of visual experts and 3D visualization experts from across the country I think it is time I change mine from "Computer Programmer". Work doesn't care, as long as you don't lie, or the title denotes a seniority (we're a flat organization, mostly all peers). So now I am in search of a job title.... hmmmm... we don't really have them, but they look nice on business cards.
