    Where in the UK can one get solar panels similar to those found on calculators (other than scavenging calculators)? Do they ever get sold as a separate component? :(

      Try RS or Farnell, both are good for electronic components.

        Man, you are going to need a lot of those to power your car. Seriously. ;) Why not try the local dump? Or phone HP and ask them what they do about recycling and collecting. Some companies will be happy for you to pick up their old scrap.

          Rapid have some 0.45V solar modules from 100mA to 800mA. They are not the same as the ones in calculators, but they do the same job and are fairly cheap. 0.45V 100MA SOLAR CELL MODULE[^]
