FF update WTF
-
I'm using FF1.5.x and have been waiting for the FF updater to install v2.0 for me. This morning it just fired and offered to upgrade me to 1.5.0.8, not 2.0.

They must not want to force 2.0 down people's throats; it's not really a critical update, I guess. It takes, um, not very long to go to their website and download the 2.0 installer...

Sheesh.. 1.5 and 2.0 are different lines. Would you like that MS install WinXP updates on your Win98 while doing automatic update?

I updated and wished i hadn't. haven't been bothered to downgrade yet though. There are some irritating bugs.

Give us some examples. On second thoughts, don't. Once I know what they are, they'll irritate me!

What have you encountered? The main bug I have had so far is trying to customise toolbars and having the dialog never disappear.

eh, stop bugging me about it, give it a couple of days, see what happens.

Main one is that if you open multiple tabs, more often than not, the right-click popup context menu doesn't appear properly. After trying this a few times, FF2.0 tends to hang completely.

Hmm, I haven't run into that one yet. I generally have somewhere between 3-12 tabs open at a time. I've been on 2.0 Since RC3 (which was basically made the final version) and everything's been dandy for me. Of course, I'm not counting the extensions that wouldn't work with the new version.

I read somewhere that the auto-update to FF2 would first require an intermediate update to 1.5.x. But maybe there won't be an auto-update, judging by other comments here?

I've had some memory leak issues, and for some reason there are certain forums that scroll soooo slow. I open it in IE and it's fast, I'm thinking it's the flash movies inside the page, they have a ton of adds. Just odd that it doesn't happen in IE, it's not like I have a bad video card, or that the page is even very large.... The other is that 2.0 will lock up from time to time when I'm downloading...just up and locks, then if i leave it and come back it will have unlocked. /shrug I do like the close button on each tab, that is a nice feature...and the reloading of the tabs after a winxp crash.

According to this, Mozilla decided to push through a security update to people who haven't yet updated to 2.0
Actually, the update wasn't needed in 2.0...
