If you mean to the day, celebrating my 33rd birthday.

Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash 24/04/2004

    Well happy birthday to you.

Trying to make some sense out of my life and figure a way out of the pain I was in at the time. It took a while, but that's all behind me now, and I'm a better person for it. :)

Camped out in a hospital 18x7x180 hoping to keep my kid alive. (Not quite yet but in one month and 5 days it will have been 5 years and she will be 5 years old.) We're going to have one righteous party to celebrate the life that is in that child. Funny this question would come up. My wife today just asked me what we should do for the big 05 for the tiny little rat. Then tonight the tiny little rat points at all the scars on her stomach and asks me what each one was for... What a ride... My gosh...:)

You are a great Dad and I am sure that Katie is a great girl coz she shares her birthday with me :P (although she is about 23 years younger). Give this :rose: to her from me.

It's good to hear that things have improved. So often, we get mired in problems and pains that we don't see any way out or any way forward. The light at the end of the tunnel is not always an oncoming train.

<KITT> Happy Birthday Michael. </KITT> That would make you 37 38* years old today then, almost old enough to retire. I would offer to have a drink with you but a) I don't drink and b) I would never be able to keep up with a professional like you. I will force myself to go see the new James Bond movie though just to celebrate. *

I took maths at A Level and got a D. If I write these things down it's not a problem, but mental maths has never been my strong point.

Yeah, as Nish mentioned that would have been around the time of the great Posting Wars, the BLA (an unnoficial association for members with slightly dodgy personal habbits) and wardrobes full of Latex Appendage Suits. :-D According to my profile page[^] I've been a member for 6 years 4 months, but really that was just when the membership system was updated to include the joining date. I believe I was first a member around the end of 1999, but can't remember for sure. I wasn't here at the Big Bang, but I joined in the first months of the site.

well, i was 16 years old and i was doing pre university course then. I was trying to decide on what field to choose to make my career.(either medical or engineering:confused::confused:) i was interested in neither of them. since my childhood, i was more intrested in sports and wanted to become a sports person. i suffered a serious injury at the age of 14. i had a knee surgery in 1999 for the first time, and then had a second surgery on the same in 2001(till now had 3 surgeries on my knee, the third surgery was on 28th sept,2004). And at the age of 16 (in 2001,i.e, 5 years ago), it was confirmed that i can no longer continue playing sports to make a career. it was time for me to choose some other field. so i choose COMPUTERS :) well, i did not want to reveal all these things to anyone here. but the question did remind me of my past.:) A knee injury made me become a programmer. U see, sometimes, little things can change the course of our life :):) -- modified at 7:05 Thursday 16th November, 2006

Legally, per se... I started the search for an attorney (not sure why I said doctor hmmm), and making the arrangements from my hospital bed. I entered the hospital through the ER on 11/3, I was transferred to Albuquerque on the 12th, my wife and the hospital in Cruces tried to stop the transfer. The hospital in Albuquerque might be able to help me, or at the very least find out exactly what was wrong and how bad it was. But my wife and the hospital both believed it was in my best interest to die peacefully rather than be moved around trying to save me. I barred my wife from the hospital in Albuquerque on the 13th, the 14th she used a false name to call into my room to chew me out, and on the 15th I started looking for a lawyer.

I had just moved to Nashville and gotten married.

I like this question because, as I'm sure is the case for many of us, it reminds me what I've accomplished and allows me a moment's prideful reflection on my greatest achievement. Five years ago, I was a grossly under-paid Technical Writer for a private university. I was doing a lot of print media, a touch of multi-media, and a fair bit of HTML. The HTML I'd been playing with for about 5 years by then. Five years ago, I was a year into a three-year program in IT at the university where I worked. I was taking classes for no other reason than they were free and being in school would stave off repayment of student loans from previous study of mechanical engineering. Five years ago, was one year before taking my first intrductory programming class as part of that IT program. When I got to that class, I found I had a knack for it. Even with that most remedial class making simple console outputs in C, I could see that I had a knack for it, a thirst to learn more, and an ability to drive towards it unlike anything I'd found before. Five years ago, was one year before launching me on a three-year ride of round the clock study, moving onto an office-automation development team at the university, becoming one of two lead developers on that team, and finally, last year, breaking out on my own as an Independant Software Developer specializing in web-delivered Office Automation intranet tools. There's still a lot to learn, but then again, there always is.... Perfect! Remember kids: don't get eliminated! Jim
