Hi everyone, I'm after some suggestions about how to get a particular software product (see sig) exposure. Any ideas? The least expensive the better. I've setup AdWords and tried writing to various graphics websites/magazines. Any thing else it should try? Thanks in advance Andy

I don't know if you've done it already, but if you submit it to Tucows, Download.com etc. and if they give you a top-rating, more people would get to see it, and you'd get more sales that way.

        Regards, Nish

Looks interesting. May I suggest MS adCenter? You could have your software available to download from free download sites like: http://www.download.com[^] http://www.freedownloadscenter.com[^] http://www.snapfiles.com[^] http://www.sharewareconnection.com[^] Also look for sites like LifeHacker, they can spread word like crazy :) http://www.lifehacker.com[^]

Linking my project in the signature only in CP, and having a dedicated website did the job. In about 6 months it put together a pretty big users base (much bigger than I expected, anyway), including a couple of important companies.

When I want exposure I open the windows and walk around naked in my house. Usually works :D

;) I live in the country, I could do that all day around my yard and the only exposure I'd get is sunburned or frostbitten.

Hell yeah! VCF is actually "green" technology. Because it's C++, it's more efficient than C#/Java/Python/VB/et al, uses fewer processor cycles, expends less energy, causes lower thermal output, reduces the effects to the environment, and therefore less likely to contribute to global warming (an energy reduction of 24.678% compared to the .Net runtime, and 42.678% compared to Java according to the latest Gartner research poll). As you can see the evidence is accurate, compelling, self-evident, unbiased, and unequivocal: The VCF actually does save the world!

Um.. Post a message in CP about how to get exposure and then point to the application in your sig.. :) Actually, one that is typically free except for some leg work is first to send out press releases to magazines that focus on your target demographic. Often they will post them for free and results in quarter to full pages ads at no cost. Next would be to list the product all of the net where you can find a place to list them. There are many places to post. As an example, people can post recommendations on my site http://www.HintsAndTips.com[^]about their products and services or others that they feel are cool. Cost is free and while the site only gets about 1000 unique hits per week, it does get indexed via Google and other top search engines and the link is typically counted in your favor. The more links you get from sites they better your ranking in search results and more traffic to your site. There are tons of sites you can post recommendation and reviews. After that, I would find sites catering to your demographic and talk about inexpensive ads or possilby link swaps. These can help drive traffic to your site and customers to your door. Another option is to promote via one of the many online affilicate programs where you pay so much per sale to those sending the customer to you. Depending on the product this can work out well. The list keeps going on, but with some effort you can promote products online pretty easily.

Hi everyone, I'm after some suggestions about how to get a particular software product (see sig) exposure. Any ideas? The least expensive the better. I've setup AdWords and tried writing to various graphics websites/magazines. Any thing else it should try? Thanks in advance Andy

I find taking off my clothes helps, but be carefull, it isnt legal in the US.

Truth is the subjection of reality to an individuals perception
