When my husband was between jobs we made quite a bit of money on Ebay. We even bought a large screen tv while he was unemployed. (About 6 months in all.) The trick is to find something that you really know, find ways to get it cheap and resell at a higher price. If you are not very knoweldgable about some type of collectible, probably won't work though.

There in is the rub, 1) Finding something to sell 2) That you can purchase cheap and sell for a profit 3) And that something has to be a something that no one else on ebay is selling or at least not much. Another method of profit is to know the value of items and purchase items that people seem to have overlooked or that have a very low Buy It Now price and then turn around and resell it. Of course, here locally, there is a shop that is posting eBay listings for people taking 30% of "profit" (purchase price - (shipping/handling + ebay fees)). Now that is a money maker if you find enough lazy people who do not want to list things themselves.

Start an online community aimed towards .NET developers. Call it the Script Project. There are a few guys who tried something like that here, but it didn't really work out for them.

The first step is to think BIG. Here are some rules to remember when going on-line. 1. The market is the globe, not the 9 blocks around your house. 2. If you want smart & serious people to buy your stuff you'll need advertising.:( 3. If your parents, friends, colleagues think it's not going to sell, remember that they only represent about 0.0000000001% of your client list.:-> 4. Entertainment is to Usefullness what Mass sales is to High price. The exact opposite that is. 5. First come, first serve. To elaborate on this, we all use google to search for a 'widget' but nobody will click on the 20th search result.:~

Um learn HTML and related stuff (Javascript\c#\Dotnetnuke), design a few demo sites then approach companies to design sites for them - have made thousands in my spare time + still get money to update old sites. Often works best if you invest in some third party apps which look goooooood (Telerik)

Hi dude Well, buy cheap, see for a profit ain't so hard. I used to buy and sell Canon camera equipment. This wasn't a hot item, but enough people were interested in it to make it worth while. So, I bought someone's collection of equipment - lenses, camera (bodies), filters etc - broke the collection down, cleaned, tested, then resold each item individually. Made myself a modest 20% profit over about 8 months. Ok, didn't get rich, but can you see the potential? Anything that can be bought as a collection and sold indivually has move value that way. Good luck! Poolee :-D

One problem of making money is having the capital to start it off. How do you resell these things off eBay if you can't afford to buy it in the first place? If you're not in a cash rich position, you could use even the most basic HTML skills to create websites for your friends or friends of friends. We seem to be at a point now where the middle-ground of non-IT contractors want to get themselves up on the web... provided they pay hosting/domain costs (which are now dirt cheap), you don't need to put in any capital to create websites for them. I'm 23 and even my friend's Dad suggested me doing a website for him (advertising properties in Hungary or something). Also my own Dad wants one doing but, of course, I'm not charging him (only because it's nearly Christmas). You could also get a few old college buddies together and try to set up a business without too much risk (alongside full-time job perhaps). Oh... don't forget the tax man!

Over the last several years, many people have asked that question. My response to that is what do you know... In the early days, one of my clients (who was very artistic) started giving away online greeting cards for free. Within about a year she was generating about $5K per month (banner ads). Another lady came with to me telling me about how her husband had been injured (brain damaged and would never work again) and she worked a low paying job at W* (a big discount store that shuts down before unionizing). She was in tears when she asked what she could do. I asked what she knew. She knew teacups. Within a year she had netted $40K selling teacups on eBay. She would pick them up at flea markets and garage sales and in turn sell them at auction. I am currently teaching my 13 year old son on how to invest in the stock market. In the last 6 months he has learned on how to make 36.59% rate of return. This means by the time that he is 45, his dividend income alone will be $75K(based on his current mix of investments). By the way his investment was $57 dollars. Before looking at the internet for some way of making money look toward yourself. You may have a particular talent or interest that will give you an advantage. The last time that I looked, libraries are free. Educate yourself and become good at what you will do. Secondly approach this with a clear strategy in mind. When the bottom falls out of the teacup market, you need to have your next step in play (she owns 5 rental units). By the way, my "personal" income this year will be only a couple hundred dollars. There is nothing illegal, immoral or tax evasive in this. If I decide not to do any work on Monday, my mortage will be paid, my vehicles will have gas, and I will have food on the table. "I" hope to make no money for a lot of years to come.
