Stand in a brutally hot shower for 30+ minutes coughing up everything. Follow-up with 12 hours in bed... alone. No drugs needed. ;)

Yup, does the trick for me too. Also try to eat more fruit than you normally do, vitamins are essential :)

Back in october i spent almost two weeks in bed with bronchitis. Well, my sinus infection never really went away and now my cough has returned. I plan on seeing the doctor later today. But I'm hesitent since last time it dragged on so much. do any of you have recommendations for sinus infections/cough? is there a certain antibiotic i haven't tried that seems to work?

I had a sinus infection for months that was pretty resistant to everything. Finally found a doc that gave me an antibiotic called "Ketek" or some similar spelling...Take 2 pills at a time once a day for 5 days. It killed the infection (or symptoms) in about a day and a half. Don't know about the cough. John

The wine might kill the germs, but no that's not what I meant ;P

For bronchitis an antibiotic is never enough - you need to be taking an expectorant to help clear the bronchii and lungs. When I was a kid I had chronic bronchitis and, nasty as it tastes, I found nothing more effective than RobitussinDM. Fortunately, now that I'm an adult I can overcome the terrible flavor by chasing it with copious amounts of scotch. BTW - There's now a pill form of expectorant containing the same effective ingredient that makes Robitussin work great and taste awful. I don't recall the name, but it's something like Mycinex.

It is Ketek, or generic Telithromycin. I am alergic to the entire mycin family, severely so, it would most probably kill me before the infection. :) But for everyone else, mycins are great because they lodge in the musculature and release slowly through the system for continuous erradication of bacteria for about a full week following termination of medication.

She might prefer the hot bath version of it. Also 1 gram of C vitamin per day might help.

I will remember this for the next time I have to take RobitussinDM.

It makes the "coughing up" part a bit messy but it's doable.

Chicken soup with *lots* of fresh ginger and garlic mashed / ground into it after heating and just before eating.

Oops! So maybe start by the shower and finish with the bath? :)

I had repeated bronchial problems and it turned out to be quite simple to stop them recurring - I wasn't breathing properly so the lungs weren't clearing out the mucus properly. Antibiotics to get the infection, long hot showers so you can clear your lungs and some exercise (particularly breathing exercises) to keep them clear. Good luck :rose: Elaine.
