    I heard on the news the guy was so radioactive he had to be buried in an armoured coffin!! :~ I guess will o' the wisp will be replaced by bright halogens for the next 138 days... :)

                It has a half life of 138 days. That's not particularly high. And it emits Alpha radiation, which isn't strong enough to penetrate the skin (or even a sheet of paper.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonium#210Po[^]

                                    Nope, it was only sealed, i.e. the top was on. Po210 alpha radiation is very weak, armouring the coffin would serve no purpose.

                                        As Colin said, it was ingested - weakly penetrating radiating sources are actually more dangerous when ingested than strongly penetrating sources.
