Anyone know software that can scan for and remove junk that has been deleted but takes up disk space?
-
It's not the first time with this installation, i delete stuff and it says the recycle bin is empty but the stuff still takes up disk space... Deleted 700MB of files and actually lost 150MB of disk space. The drive is almost filled to capacity now and this keeps happening :(( i hope someone has come accross this before and knows something that can check for and eliminate this floating junk.... I know, i may sound crazy...i wish i had screenshots here Roswell

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAWell, it might somehow have something to do with System Restore if you have it enabled. Haven't really had this kind of thing happen. One thing I can suggest is booting in safe mode (so the admin has all rights and the least amount of files/dirs is locked) and just doing a search for one of the files you deleted. Might turn up something, who knows. Sorry, but I can't be of any more assistance :/

i'm used to this kind of errors on this machine...what happened this time was disk cleanup crashed and the disk activity stayed the same, the system bacame very sluggish and i had to reboot...so i think system restore caught that...disabled it like it is on most other machines i have and the problem is gone (well, half of it maybe, since it didn't fix some of the old stuff, which is probably caused more by a physical error) Thanks a lot :) Roswell P.S. I don't like using system restore at all...it's like a sponge when it comes to viruses:rolleyes:

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAI'd suggest you using both CCleaner and SequoiaView

I'd suggest you using both CCleaner and SequoiaView
SequoiaView looks like a good one...sometimes i end up having to hover the mouse over stuff to see how much each directory 'weighs' but it's kind of time consuming. Now this looks like a solution :) Roswell
