Well, i havent been keeping up with the new bands. Currently listening to old songs by X-Japan, Dir en grey.:-> There's a band called Nightmare which i think is not too old if i am not wrong. :) Cos they have 2 songs which are used as the opening and ending theme for a jap anime "Death Note". Sounds good.

Eh eh! If I used Last.fm, my chart would probably be very very similar to yours, especially for Rammstein at #1! EDIT: I just installed the WMP plugin and joined the CP group! -- modified at 5:41 Thursday 21st December, 2006

Welcome! As Dave Wulff rightly commented the other day, CodeProject community radio is a fascinating and often scary place. One minute you might be listening to classical electronic music, the next it could well be Rammstein or Attila the Stockbroker.

I've only heard a few Japanese bands - Boris[^] are probably my favourites at the moment.

The group radio is great isn't it. I haven't heard Attila the Stockbroker yet, although the site you gave a few weeks ago certainly looked promising!

I was just wondering what music do most of you program to? I find chucking my headphones on at work blocks everyone out and I can code much faster and keep my train of thought when listening to music with no or little lyrics. I usually listen to upbeat trance or dance type music which I find keeps me alert and working fast. Currently reviving some Fat Boy Slim, Daft Punk, Felix Da House cat etc and is working well. Looking for some other gems to program by, any good suggestions? Thanks

How do you acheive silence in an open plan office? Noise cancelling headphones, listen to some white noise looping mp3? :-)

Yeah, that can be hard. A couple years back I tried listening to a 5 min. PCM loop of pink noise, but tired of it after a few months when it started to give me a headache. Work chatter and the odd personal conversation doesn't bother me - it's geeky antics like Nerf guns and remote control toys and loud music that make it difficult to concentrate. I think management should gently ensure a reasonably quiet and professional work environment for their employees. /ravi
