2006 drawing to a close..

Did your 2006 rock, or did it suck? Did you accomplish your personal goals / resolutions for the year, or will you extend them to next year? Overall I'm really happy with the year - attained some of my goals behond what I'd hoped, but others didn't transpire yet.

It could of been worse. Nearly lost my best friend to depression (twice), but it turned out alright in the end. 2007 will be interesting, work-wise - we were taken over by a massive US company last year, and this year will be crunch time regarding salaries, bonuses, pensions, etc. - could go either way. My wife celebrates her 30th birthday in March, which should be fun. :) I'll be 36 in March, so edging closer to 40 (as my wife takes great pleasure in pointing out). Personal goals - well, I did pretty good I think. Got even deeper into the STL (via Boost in particular) and my degree studies are coming along very well (I am a third of the way through now - should graduate in 2011). MUST lose some weight and get more exercise in 2007 though. I may even make some resolutions and try to stick to them. Went on the cross-trainer last night for the first time in months and, well, I felt it afterwards. :)

It was fantastic, I'm a dad now, and my company moved to a smaller office sending most of the development team to work from home. I haven't accomplished any of my new years resolutions from last year, but I'm closer on all of them.

The majority of the year really sucked for me. We moved, which I really, really, really did not want to do.We lived in a hotel for a couple of months while trying to sell/buy a house. Had to have other people take care of the animals. (Finding people to take care of two large cockatoos for a few months is quite hard.) I took the first job I was offered in the new area which SUCKED. I had started to look for another when they sold the company and restructured. So I got fired anyway. Started my new job in October which I LOVE, but shortly after developed acute bronchitis which kept me out of work for almost 2 weeks. Also found out this year I am allergic to cats (own three). Also turned 30 this year; depressing enough and then I found three gray hairs. Oh the humanity!

Well, I had my first full year of continuous employment for a while. I wrote some great code, worked on some nice projects. Outside of work though, well it hasn't been the happiest of times. I'll be glad to see the back of 06, but 2007 ain't looking much brighter.

Yeah, seems to be everyone's favourite. I managed to do quite well this year... just need to maintain it, and work more on fitness etc.

Mixture, I suppose it's ending on a high but for many people it would have sucked. 1) Was diagnosed with cancer, but it's almost gone now (one / two treatments) 2) Postponed entry to uni as a result but got a job on good pay during my year. 3) Now working from home and it's much better :-D 4) Now representing Wales in the World Championships in Texas with some really nice people in the team  5) Finally getting around to demolishing (and rebuilding my Land Rover). Big downside: After a successful shoot winning some (more) wiskey I'm debating as to buy a friends gun which I used (someone was using mine) but mine as already been put on the permit application. And can't justify spending another £500+ on YAS (yet another shotgun, but I would sell my current one)
I have no idea what I just said. But my intentions were sincere.

It's been my first year of selective employment.. taking on as little work as possible in order to have a break from the stress of the previous couple of years. But looking to get back into the thick of things starting next week.

Yeah moving's stressful :sigh:. My year started off with an international move - what a mission. But the rest of the year has been awesome; travelling a bit, new experiences, doing as little work as possible :)

Oh, that's right, we bought a house. And I thought the biggest thing for me this year was finding CodeProject.
