Vista - Do 32/64bit versions need purchasing separately?
-
I heard somewhere that Vista would come with both 32bit and 64bit versions together in the same package on separate DVDs. Great I thought no need to buy 32bit initially then buy the 64bit version again later. But now I've seen this website... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=33&catid=20[^] The website lists 32bit and 64bit versions separately, but the OEM versions. What's the deal here? Does the retail version come with both 32 and 64, but the OEM versions have to be bought separately? Has the website just made a mistake? Someone shed some light on this please!

In Vista, every version will be available in both 32- and 64-bit versions. A Microsoft spokesperson tells me they're still working out the details, but the current plan is to include 32-bit versions in retail packages; if you want to install a 64-bit version, you'll have to call and request that the alternative media be sent to you. The same spokesperson says Microsoft may include both 32-bit and 64-bit DVD media in the Windows Vista Ultimate box.
Rumor on the blogs is that all retail full editions will come with 32-bit and 64-bit DVDs, but this ZDNet article is the most trustworthy source I've found. I'm guessing that OEM and upgrade editions will differ.

May? isn't it a bit late to be making these decisions?
