What freeware do you use when developing software? I can immediately think of WinCVS. There is also a restricted 'freeware' version of Rational Rose for UML. :)

CVS, Doxygen and ResHacker (and some GNU stuff like od, gcc and so on when on a linux box). I have also found some really resourceful applications and add-ins here on CP like a project line counter, a NCB nuker, QuickHex and so on. Thanks to all contributers for that! :-D /moliate

I've been using Chris Sells CollectionGen for creating strongly typed collections in C#. I've also used nDoc and nAnt. Thats all I can think of right now. James Simplicity Rules!

I'm using the best editor there is for Unix and Windows alike: Vim (VI Improved - and my, what an improvement!)

How about GSL, the Gnu Scientific Library. There's even a win binary here. Gil

wxWindows!! (That's a cross-platform, MFC-like library for C++ (and other languages) in case you didn't know.) It's pretty good stuff. Ironically, we only use it for Windows code at the moment... No generalization is 100% true. Not even this one.

Shoot, and I almost forgot: Perl. We use that all over the place for internal scripts and stuff. No generalization is 100% true. Not even this one.
