I just bought myself a new digital camera: Fujifilm FinePix S9600[^]. 9 MPixel, 10.7x optical zoom, 2" multi-angle LCD. Another planet compared to my old Sony DSC-P50 (2.1 MPixel, 3x optical zoom). Got it on Ebay for 484 Euros including deliver (new, not used) -- modified at 12:23 Saturday 6th January, 2007

Nice! That adjustable LCD looks awesome. I've got the great-grand-daddy: the S5500 :) It's only 4 MP, but haven't needed more so far. The 10x zoom is great.

:suss: Looks almost identical to the Konica Minolta A2[^] that my Mum got herself a couple of years ago apart from the fact that this one is 9 MPixels and hers was 8 but at a time when most cameras were still 5 or 6. Hers' even got the tilting screen (the Fuji one looks like an exact copy of it :rolleyes:). Still I suppose if K-M got it right then it'd be stupid for other's not to copy it. We havn't looked into the advanced side of things yet because the automatic settings do such a good job in the first place.
I have no idea what I just said. But my intentions were sincere.

Digital cameras are awesome. With luck my next one will be the venerable 5D. As for post christmas gifts, ZX-14! (not yet, still trying to convince myself I deserve it. It'll probably wait till after the IRS has their say)
