humm, well true, for VB and JScript you don't really require a book to start learn, there are .chm files for jscript and vbscript installed in this folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\IDE\IDE98\MSE\1033 (VS 6, i am not sure about other Visual studio versions). And yes there are lot of info for other language too, and if you really search you could find .chm files of popular books. But I think a book is a book otherwise we would not have "sex for dummies" book :)

I think you've completely misunderstood me. VBScript is a disaster that I wouldn't wish on anyone, all the more because I fear it means asp. That was my point.

I feel a flow of negative energy here towards vbscript. ;P Although I have to agree that VBScript is something you should avoid at all times, even if there's no other way to go.

Most people here are against VB, VBA, VBScript,... (me including :-D) For javascript you can take a look here: Javascript examples[^] and here Javascript reference[^] good luck, especially when you try to go the VB way ;P

Yes, I don't know why there is such rabid hostility here. Anyway, it doesn't seem good form when someone asks a question about it to just slag it off. There may be valid reasons for wanting to learn VBScript, e.g., maintaining a legacy ASP app., windows scripting host...

I wouldn't bash VBScript too hard. I wrote a little spy app in it where it would sit on a users machine and watch every single URL they put into an IE or Explorer window, then logged the activity by calling a remote script component on my machine. It was an interesting exercise in remotable components and very useful to collect data on srufing habits at work. What did I find?? :laugh: I'll never tell!

I'm more concerned by bad coding habits than programming language as such. And this seems to be liberally spread through most languages as far as I can tell. At least that's been my experience from doing maintenance in a variety of languages.

Sadly, no. Nobody of any consequence went to where they weren't supposed to go. A couple of minions, on the other hand, well... weren't minions for long.
