Codeproject for parliament?

This Friday sees the second reading in the house of the Lighter Evenings (Experiment) Bill (shift clocks forward an hour). I was writing to my MP (via the wonderful WriteToThem.com) to urge her to support it, but I couldn't remember the what it was called. So I googled for "daylight savings early day motion," and what popped up? The top link was Codeproject[^]. Typical. :) How long will it be until codeproject has enough content that google links it top for pretty much all queries? Or maybe google gave me the result because it knows what I "usually" search for? :~

That's more probable. They're so successful because they've been working on a mind-reader so it always returns what you want. Now if only Visual Studio would do that... :sigh:

In that case the must be doing it based upon IP rather than cookies, because it gives the same results across browsers (with cookies deleted). I could understand it if I'd "signed in." I'm sure that somewhere along the line what I type in over time influences what comes out, but the algorithms involved must take into account some kind of weighting factor for the general user base also. I wonder if over the space of a day, if every google user searched for the word "Cars" (for example) whether the results at the beginning of the day would be drastically different to those at the end of the day - changing on the basis of each individual users previous searches? Of course, such an experiment would be hard to achieve, and no-doubt people blogging about it on the day would also alter the results.

Out of boredom, I just searched "daylight savings early day motion" Beating the Daylight Savings Time bug and getting correct file [^] Was the first result. Unlikely it's targeted :~

I'm at work, nope. Besides this is a large corporation, there are only a handfull of IPs visible to the outside world.

Well, so long as you don't want it to apply in Scotland I'm fine with that. Because of our latitude we don't get very much daylight in the winter and shifting the clocks forward one hour would mean that the sun wouldn't rise until after I got to work for a good few weeks of the year. On the other hand... Nah, I would be still in darkness when it was time to go home for a few weeks of the year. As it stands, the morning sun is all I get all year round. By shifting the clocks forward for a few weeks of the year I'll never be in the daylight on a work day unless I go out at lunch time.
