Bittorrent and all related problems...

Sorry, if this is a repost.. It seems very hard for a anti-piracy organization to shutdown this torrent tracker website. They even put almost every legal threat in one dedicated page. See Here[^]. Is it true, by using torrent technology, we become "untouchable" by law ? Because the always claim that the files does not exist in their server, and they only provide how to find it (similar like google).

Do you mean 'we' as in, people who steal copyrighted stuff ? Or do you mean 'we' as in, programmers who choose to help people steal ? In either case, I'd prefer you say something that doesn't imply that anyone who reads your post is part of either of those groups. No, the law is bound to change in order to address new situations which the old law, in letter, do not cope with, even if they do, in spirit. But, it will never be possible to stop thieves, all we, as developers, can do, is to make it not worth most people's while to steal our code. I'm not sure what bands can do, I guess just hope for a core following who is willing to pay for their music. I suspect that will be easier in sub genres, such as metal and prog, where the fans already feel embattled. Britney Spears has no hope. I recently read a Dilbert cartoon where a former 'Idol' winner goes to work at the company. People keep saying 'I bought your CD', and she keeps saying, no you didn't, no-one did, they all downloaded it and I went broke. It could happen.

No it does not, it can be harder to track but definitely not untouchable. The Pirate Bay remains untouched because of its geographic location and the laws of sweden (evidently, I find it difficult to believe that sweden doesn't care that a group of thieves is hiding behind them).

this is fairly slippery slope, a search engine such as google is fairly generic in results it returns. something like pirate bay on the other hand exists soley to distribute stolen goods , they could try this defence but it probably wouldn't work.
