I just finished Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software[^] and I thoroughly recommend it - it has the high accolade of causing me to miss my DART stop[^] because I was so engrossed.

Gotta love him. My copy of the .net framework is well worn out, one of the greatest books on the clr I ever did read.

Yes, great book. I read it back in late 1999 and finished it in a few days. The next semester I took a class in college about computer organization and the next computer architecture, and I knew everything already from that book. He explains it in a very simple way, that I believe even non-engineers could understand it. Great book!!

Also highly recommend. One of the rare gems of a technology book that won't soon become outdated. :-D
