Yes, the inconsistencies they've added to the UI have been discussed many times. X| And I also love the way it asks you what version you purchased. And then, again, asks you to confirm that you have selected the edition you purchased. What the...??

I read that all versions are included on the disc; and if you don't enter the key, the installer has no way to find out what version you purchased. Does this mean that I can borrow a Vista DVD from my friend, use it for the grace period, and buy a copy, if I like it? If it cannot be done, why the hell do they allow it to be installed without a key? They could have asked for the key; installed the correct version, and prompted you whether to activate or not. Thomas

Yes, I remember reading a criticism of this new design a while back. Sometimes MS, after hitting on a good idea, then change it just for the sake of it - and at best have a neutral effect or at worst introduce a usability regression. There are a few of them in VS 2005 IMO. There were also some in VS 2003 for VC++ devs.
