I thought this[^] was very funny. I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui.

PC zealotsusers have been saying that for the last 20 years. Please, find something new. P.S. Mac zealotsusers have been saying the opposite for the last 20 years either.

I was going to quote the same bit of the article. It is just so devastatingly accurate. I used a Mac for a while, and I hated it. Like the author, I felt like I'd "lost a limb" looking for that missing mouse button. Perhaps it's just saying that Mac users can't cope with the exta button. Maybe they feel that two is just too overpowering.

the last thing I want to see is some pasty-faced geek with skin so pale that it's almost translucent trying to bump parts with a partner - John Simmons / outlaw programmer
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

I don't actually hate Macs, they are not important enough to be hated - simply ignored.

And a proper computer is what, like the Linux world where they tell you "oh, just download the source and compile it"? Yeah, that's productive. Marc

Ultimately the campaign's biggest flaw is that it perpetuates the notion that consumers somehow "define themselves" with the technology they choose. If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality. I think this is brilliant.

This notion is not confined to the Mac world. Every advertiser uses the same trick to get you to choose their product over the competition's product. What about those jerks who believe that owning and driving a fast car somehow transforms them into a cool person? As if they cease being a jerk the second they put the key into the ignition.

of course they do. people "define themselves" by the things they purchase all the time. if we didn't, we'd all be driving the same car, live in the same style and color house, wear the same clothes, use the same cell phones, and run the exact same kind of computer, in the same 1950's style case, using the same desktop scheme and colors. we don't. why? does everybody in the world have a mental illness? or is this guy just a whiny misanthrope?

people who buy product A often think themselves superior to people who buy product B. the rule works in both directions, of course.

No, but it gives you a huge sense of satisfaction when you compile an entire OS from the ground up (ps, you get lots of coffee breaks when you start on Gnome or KDE ).

I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui.

I thought this[^] was very funny. I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Two buttons in a mouse is too complicated for a Mac user, also mice with only one button are cuter so Mac users don't cares what you can do with two.
