This week is my last week at my current employer, so I thought I would share a few of my reasons for leaving. Obviously, I don't want to burn any bridges unnecessarily, so I'm going to be as diplomatic as possible here - I'll leave it up to you guys to add the commentary. ;) 1) I have been asked to remove all source code from Vault[^] and place it on the network, so that others can work on it.

I would at least ask for a written confirmation; you want to be certain that it will not be seens as an act of of your own decision. Stupid questions : Was it a management decision to put the code in Vault ? If yes, why remove it ? Are you the only one that knows that the code is in Vault ? Can't you teach the others on how to use Vault ?

If it was SourceSafe (pre-2005) instead of SubVersion, perhaps they may have had a point when they said "so this person can work on it"

Waitaminit! Didn't they just rewrite sourcesafe so it wouldn't suck?

If were actually possible to rewrite SourceSafe so that it didn't suck, the result wouldn't be SourceSafe. SourceSafe and Sux are synonymous ...

Tell them the 'Vault' is in Switzerland and that you need to go there personally to remove the code (they require fingerprints, retinal scan, ...). At least you'll get a vacation out of them before you go. :)
