Hi there, Just wondered if we are allowed to place adsense tags in our articles, or whether this is frowned upon? Thanks, Mike

It's frowned on. The site does its own advertising, which pays for things like servers, bandwidth, and the occasional shiny object to keep Chris happy. If you want to advertise, you get your own site. :)

I voted him down for even thinking about using those things. I can't stand those damn things! I like to scan the document with the mouse pointer as I read and those stupid things keep popping up all over the place. It's hard to read through those little windows that pop up over everything I'm looking at!

I think you are confusing adsense with intellitxt ads. CP already uses both. This guy was asking if he could put personal adsense links in his article. He was decent enough to ask. So I am surprised that everyone voted him down for that.

Or at least do it subtly enough so no one notices

                  (1) Did I say otherwise? No. (2) They don't help me - when it comes to browsing, I'm strictly Microsoft-Centric, like CodeProject, and they don't work with Internet Explorer. (3) It's still an advertisment according to dictionary.com: "a public promotion of some product or service".

It is frowned apon here, but if you like I can give you a free* webpage that you can fill with adsense! *Note: May not actually be free, infact it won't be, I'll charge $5.50 per month.

"*" means that conditions apply. It means you should look the the matching "*" later in the document to further define the statement.

I see your, quite literal, point, but IMHO, I think ads (or rather links) for your own stuff in your sig is one thing, since they aren't instrusive, Ad Sense ads and the like, however, are probably a step too far. :~
