I have a very cool list of Firefox extensions installed (a lot of recommendations of CP users :-D) Now I was thinking, how I can backup all extensions. Then, If I format my hard drive, change computer, recover disasters, etc. I can reinstall quickly. Not problem if I do backup of old versions because Firefox Extension Update Manager really rocks!

This is very cool BEFORE you install the extensions. My Firefox not showed any option to download the xpi file. But in the last case I will try it. I just thought what someone created some extension to help in this case.

You can back up your whole profile using MozBackup[^], and later restore it to any Firefox install on any computer.

It's actually pretty simple to just back up your entire Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ folder, and copy this onto a new computer - Assuming you install the same (or newer) version of Firefox, it should just see your profile, and work. I did this when moving from 2000 to a clean install of XP and didn't have any problems :)

I use MR Tech's Local Install extension which as well as backing up XPIs when they are installed it also allows you to disable on an extension by extension basis the version checking. Good for extensions like "Statusbar Clock" that haven't been upgraded. What extensions do you have - I'm always after more!

A timely topic for me, with a perfect reply there. I needed that FEBE. I just dropped in a new hard drive in my second system and reinstalled everything to it. In addition to making it easy to get my extensions transferred over, I can also use this to install them on my GF's profile so she has them too, plus it will make it easy for me to take them to work. Much appreciated for the topic and responses. :-D

Have you tried backup/restore of the Firefox folder in documents and settings under your name and application data? Worked for me.
