VFAT Error?

Does anybody know what a VFAT bluescreen on startup of Windows 95 means, I am trying to get an older computer to work for somebody but it won't let me start up. Things to find out: Did you partition and format the system, or was it already done? Did you install/re-install Windows, or was it already installed? What version of Windows95 is installed? Make sure the versions all match (i.e., it wasn't formatted with a later version than the one installed, etc.). That's all i've got... this is usually where i dig out the installation CD :( --------

(yeah, DOS doesn't have problems, but it's DOS...) Check for loose IDE cables, etc. If hardware such as CD drives, etc. was removed, make sure the master/slave settings are still correct. But given that it is an old machine, the likelyhood that the HD is just plain going is not too bad. --------
