Hallowed souls; I have no business designing Windows GUI's, but my current project requires me to do this. One of the project briefs is to have a pretty (compelling was the word used) UI - anyone know where I can get some sample ideas from? I always thought the standard Windows stuff was cool - I can't use any 3rd party stuff - client won't spring for it. Cheers

I would recommend as a starting point that you take a look at the Krypton package (the toolkit part is free). I've been using it over the last month or so and it seems very good. http://www.componentfactory.com/index.html[^]

...In addition I have found this very site to be a most valuable source in developing and understanding the components etc that I need. Use the search articles function above - should help get your creative juices flowing

Standand and Windows won't ever fall into the sample category since the Launch of .net and the release of .net 3.0 (WPF) , anything goes let your imagination be your guide.

The "prettiest" most compelling UI is the one that integrates so tightly with the users mindset and what they want to accomplish that it melts in their brain and just works for them like an extension of their mind.

you know... I wanted to get one of those alpha-beta brain-wave hookups they are experimenting with, and no one would spring for it. I thought that was the perfect UI, plug in and fly.;P
