We've been able to do that for years with all the previous versions of Windows.

There is absolutely NOTHING that Vista brings to the table that can't be done with existing technology and software. [edit]Ah well, now that the link is working, I see that my response isn't exactly on-context [/edit] Marc

Nope, it does find new ways be incompatible with software and run games slowly :)
My Blog A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Vista Ultimate performs about as well on the average home PC as xp does on the pc in that link ;) It works all right on my laptop though :)

Actually[^] the only "big" change is in OpenGL and vendor specific changes/accelerations that were originally banned from Vista, and vendors are rapidly trying to fill those in. Some things that use linear fetching with computation are actually faster due to the changes in fetching design in Vista (such as video and audio compression). Although those are rare by comparison to the average user, they are not uncommon in the advanced user, giving the advanced user significant gains in superfetch optimal models. The OpenGL and vendor specific modes should come online within the next few months.

If they had that much time on their hands, why didn't they just replace the clock with a momentary-contact button and do clock ticks that way.
