Off the top of my head I'd have to say Red Dwarf, Stargate SG-1, Trigger Happy TV, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Coupling and Father Ted. :) Unfortunately with the exception of Doctor Who and Torchwood none of them are being produced anymore. C'est la vie. :rose:

That's OK. The British/Irish sense of humour is very different to that of most US citizens. Shows like Friends and Seinfeld leave me cold, for example - I just don't find them funny. On the other hand, show me a clip of Kryten[^] being taught by Lister[^] to call Rimmer[^]a "smeghead" and I'm in stitches.:laugh::laugh:

Not to most Brits! (and Friends is just repetitively boring. Personally, I'd rather jump into a mincing machine than watch an episode of it).

What? I don't get it at all.

Kryten is a mechanoid, and specifically programmed to serve and obey humans. On the other hand, there is only one human on the ship - the slobby but fun Dave Lister (played by Craig Charles). The only other crewmembers are the Cat (a feline descendent of a pregnant cat smuggled onto the ship three million years earlier (Lister was put into stasis for that, hence his status as the last living human) and Rimmer - a hologram of the most annoying member of the crew, resurected by the ship's computer to keep Lister sane. Rimmer is a stuck up officious coward, and Lister dispises him. So, in Series III he make it his mission to teach Kryten to tell him what he thinks of him. "Smeghead" was an insult the BBC censors didn't know, so it made it into the series. Trust me - it's hilarious! If you do get a chance to see the series, watch Polymorpth[^] from Series III. If that doesn't have you screaming with laughter nothing will. :)

That brings back lots of good memories. "Smeeeeeeee!!!.... Smmeeeeeeeee Heeeeeeeea!!!.... I'm sorry, sir. I just can't do it." Brilliant!

Right now I'm watching a show called Ugly Betty (it's an ad break) its such a good show and I wanna know what people's favourite tv shows are. My favourite shows are Seinfeld, The Simpsons, and the Chaser's war on everything (it's an australian show).

Actually it's not. The first episode may tread the mill a bit, but after that it contains a whole host of stuff from illegal immigrants, homophobia, gender changing, and frequent sightings of a near-naked Selma Hayek. All this wrapped up in camp slapstick.

I think the writer's of Ugly Betty promised that she wouldn't 'evolve' into a beautiful swan at the end of it.

Since the series is still running how do you know the major story arc (that will likely span a few years) isn't that she goes from ugly duckling to beautiful swan.

My favorites include (in no particular order): Battlestar Galactica Dr. Who Red Dwarf FLCL (Fooly Cooly) Paranoia Agent Ghost in the Shell Fullmetal Alchemist Trinity Blood Neon Genesis Evangelion Monty Python's Flying Circus I am a fan of Japanese animation (Anime). It's so different from American animation. Most animation in the US is aimed at children. The animation that is aimed at adults is usually rather juvinile. There are some exceptions (The Venture Brothers being a notable one). And, most shows rarely attempt any sort of continuity. The Japanese shows I watch tend to be short series -- usually about 24 - 50 episodes. There is a running storyline through the series, and often some pretty deep storylines. They can be bloody (Trinity Blood is about a war between vampires and the Vatican in a post-apocalyptic Earth), or there can be some sexual innuendo (FLCL is built around it). There are a ton of bad Anime as well -- some of the stuff aimed at kids is as bad as some of the stuff in the US. Flynn

Oooh, Ghost in the Shell is a good show! It's gotta be my favourite anime! Although Hayao Miyazaki films are always good (in fact, all Studio Ghibli films that I've seen).
