I was doing a search for the application (ForestPad) that I put up on The Code Project a couple of years ago and I noticed that another site, manbu dot net, seems to be screen scraping code project and delivering the content of articles as if they originated at manbu. Then they are using google adsense on the page to make money off of The Code Project and my article (among many others, of course). This seems slimy to me but is it even legal? Even though I provided the article as an open source thing to Code Project, can a third party just copy the article and code verbatim, strip out information regarding the author, and publish it as their own? An example link is below: link I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Thanks, Timothy Timothy Lee Russell http://www.anatone.net

If you have not given permission for your article to be used in this way I presume that these other people would a committed a breach of copyright which the law courts should examine. If other articles and/or code from other authors also appear there then I suspect that there will be an unhappy Chris Maunder. Therefore it is time he then took action in defence of Code Project and its members. Only question is, the main page of this site is chinese (??) and could be problematic in terms of legal recourse.

i don't know if it is legal, but at the bottom of the page, we can read this :

        References
These resources have proven useful while building ForestPad:
        CodeProject

maybe giving credit to the hosting site is not enough, but... i'm not a lawyer

Irritatingly, they have left the download links pointing back to Codeproject.

Well, actually, in this case, the quote "These resources have proven useful when building ForestPad" is the author (me) giving credit to CodeProject for being a useful resource. Also, it looks like there is a pretty large chunk of CodeProject articles on the manbu site (not just mine). If you've written an article -- it's probably up there -- but with no author attribution. Cheers, Timothy Timothy Lee Russell http://www.anatone.net

I don't believe so, I would either post this in the suggestions forum or send an email to Chris M so he knows about it.

I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

let's report to Google AdSense that they are using copyrighted materials: Google will delete their AdSense account and they won't make any more money from our articles: click on "Ads by Google" link on the bottom left of an ad on any page under http://www.manbu.net/Lib/En/ click on "Send Google your thoughts on the site or the ads you just saw" click on "Also Report a Violation?" and fill the form off course, individual articles authors and codeproject can also proceed legally against the site owner.
