Well, I need a laptop. Never had one before, don't know what I should be looking for. The purpose will be...basically all your standard MS Ofice things (Word+Outlook+OneNote are the ones I will _really_ need to use, the rest is...just in case ), as I'll use it in university for note taking; then, development..vs2005 (i can already hear the 2GB RAM suggestions ;P), and a modern graphics card -> I'm, on my free time, trying out some graphics programming (the idea being, at some point to become a game developer), and whilst any graphics card would do for my _current_ needs, I'm sure I will be, soon enough, doing more advanced stuff which would require quite some processing power (on the GPU). Though nothing crazy, like 2 gfx cards, or the very-very latest. Well, thats pretty much all I can think of, but the point I was trying to make (in quite a long post), is where would you recommend looking for laptops? With my workstation(s), it's easier - I order 'em by parts, customized to my liking/price, and then assemble. But for a laptop....I just can't see myself assembling a laptop. So, I guess I'm looking for a site that allows you to customize your order (with a crapload of options I imagine). Thanks if you've read this far, and pow(thanks, 2); if you've got suggestions

I've always been a big fan of Dell and recommend their products. Dell laptops offer the highest native LCD resolutions and fastest/largest hard disks available. /ravi

Try Dell or ASUS for the laptops.

I looked through a bunch of sites (including alienware), and so far AW does seem like a better choice. either that, or im bad at searching all of a sudden. The problem with AW is that _I_ couldn't find descriptions for some specific components (say, brand of RAM they will use). Plus, there are certain options that I'd rather turn off completely than have something selected in there (eg. I do not need, nor want to have windows preinstalled on it if it will cost less without it, yet I can't unselect it). Plus, there are certain configs available only with AMD, and I'm an Intel fan. Little things like these mostly stop me from doing something with AlienWare; and others, well, I just can't find something I like.

Well, on the other hand I'm a huge AMD fan:cool:. But I see that you live in Canada, so why don't you talk to a Sales Agent @ 1-800-745-1639. Regards,
