*grin* at risk of incriminating myself I will answer *before* finding out if anyone else shares my tastes. I have all my CD's on MP3 ( 50 odd MP3 CD's ) and I listen to music like Accept, Kix, Motley Crue, Faster Pussycat, Def Leppard, U.D.O., Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc. For variety, I've lately been downloading 12" remixes of 80's pop songs like Prince, U2, and one hit wonders like 'You spin me like a record' and 'I wanna be a cowboy'. Hey, I'm 32 years old in a few months, give me a break !!:) Christian The content of this post is not necessarily the opinion of my yadda yadda yadda. Metallica's: Master Of Puppets Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Or if I have a little headache, then: Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) Staiway To Heaven (Led Zepp) Is anybody out there (Pink floyd) But if I really have the headache, then Classic favors are: Romanza (Anonymous) Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven) Air on G (J.S. Bach) many more... You see, I am kinda Rock! Headbanger! Runaround Electric Guitarist! But I have my roots in classic! I got some recds on my web as samples! :) Cheers Masoud

Yes, yes, yes !! I bought Puppets when it came out ( and lived in the T-shirt, but that is another sordid tale ), and consider it their finest moment, much as I love the Loads. I only listen to music on my machine when I am waiting for a compile to finesh, or sometimes when I'm using the Internet (like now). At the moment (like at this very moment) I am listenting to Billy Gilman's 'One Voice' album, and although i'm not a big (or even small) country music fan, I think he's pretty damned good for a twelve year old. If it's not him then i'll be listening to either online radio (Virgin London) or Britney's 'Stronger' (only 'cause I know the words). When actually programming though I never listen to anything, mucic or otherwise. I find it distracts me too much, kind of like writing code at 2:30 AM - you read it back afterwards and it is complete cr*p :). So, as you can tell. I am not a big music listener (nor do I have taste). Oh well, off to bed for me... David Wulff dwulff@battleaxe-software.co.uk

Radiohead, Radiohead, Readiohead. Some Beatles, some old Bowie (live from the BBC), PJ Harvey's new one and the new U2 one. I also have an acoustic sat right next to my desk, as sometimes I just gotta strum along!

Sometimes I like a hard core techno, sometimes something down and head thrasing like Metallica or Godsmack. Occasionally I like classical (mostly Bach), or even some swing/ska. I can honestly say i've never programmed to barry manilow.

At Uni I used to pick the loudest, nastiest music I could: Metallica, Ratt, Ministry - you name it. The harder the Differential Topology/General Relativity/Quantum Mechanics got, the nastier the music. It was like the only way I could really, really concentrate was if I numberd one side of my head so the other side could get on with twisting itself inside out to get a handle on that stuff. My brain has settled down nicely into a ball of mush so I have been able to tone down the music a little :) cheers, Chris Maunder

Anything that I can find on Napster will do for me. I listen to anything from A-Ha to ZZ-Top, and everything in between. It depends on what I'm doing. Yeah, I'm in the UK too. Stan was a top tune - six months ago when the album came out. Haven't the UK radio stations heard of overplaying???? You can't go half an hour now without hearing it. Anyway, enough complaining, since Eminem is still the man. Surely there are plenty of people who visit CodeProject who _hate_ Eminem! (since most people do) Good chance to start an interesting debate I reckon....
