    hi to all!! when i shut down my laptop there comes End Now window .... i am using xp home edition.please tell me why does it come like this... why it does not shut down without this dialog box thanks in advance....

      It happens because there's at least one application or service that is not shutting down fast enough. The title of the application should be in the titlebar of that window.

        Yes, it means that a process is not exiting (closing or whatever) fast enough when it receives the message to shutdown. My Symantec AntiVirus 2006 has a couple of processes that do the same thing; they don't stop fast enough. I don't do anything; I give them more time to finish; they eventually do. If you give the process (whatever it is) time to finish and if it does then it is probably best to always do that. If the dialog box does not go away after a couple of minutes or fast enough for your requirements then you can push the End Now button and probably there will not be any damage to your data or whatever. It is best however to let the process finish if possible.
