Certainly, there are "trolls." But in my experience, the the persons quickest to accuse others of being a "troll" are often a closer fit to the accepted meaning of the term than the accused is.

FWIW, I watch this forum pretty closely, and i'm pretty sure not a single one of his threads was deleted until he started re-posting them after they'd been pushed off the first page.

That's not true. I started reposting only after they started vanishing. At first, sometime over the weekend, it was sporadic, and I let it go. Then, on Sunday, they got their act together and started vanishing just about everything.

Fair 'nuff. I haven no way of knowing for certain when a post was deleted, but i know from my own recollection that you've re-posted threads that had already lived for at least a day in their first incarnation. Frankly, at that point it doesn't matter - it's still noise, and you know it.

Of course you do, as long as you do not abuse the forums or the site.

Mr Maunder, you've giving mixed signals here. On the one hand, I should "probably just move on" if I want to try to discuss thing rationally/logically, because it's "abusive" (as per community consensus) to identify the illogical arguments/assertions others make. On the other hand, if I'm not "abusive" (i.e. if I insult other persons right and left, as per community practice), then there is no difficulty. I gotta tell ya' that's dizzy-making. To me, at any rate.

Even-handedness is a virtue, isn't it? In case I was too obscure, mean the even-handedness by which the actually agreived party must share the blame so that everything is "fair." Anyway, it's a virtue, isn't it?

"Abuse" here means "Abuse of the site", meaning multiple reposts, and in this respect I'm asking you directly to stop abusing the forums. Abuse, in the form of "abusive messages" is a separate thing and I've updated the notes at the top of the forum to reflect this. Feel free to mark as abuse any post in this forum that is abusive to another member.

Here and now, it's moot. There's plenty of blame, an abundance of aggravation, and a distinct lack of fairness. Take what you can handle, give what you have.

That isn't even something you *need* to ask me, as though the concept is something I am resistant to. I assure you, I did not enjoy single repost.

Look, most of the really active regulars here go out of their way to express contempt for Christianity and for Christians. And that's ok, I'm not complaining; Christianity can take it. And I can take it, so long as I'm allowed to demolish the so-called arguments. However, because I am trying to get at the illogic and/or absurdity of so many of the claims and/or arguments put forward on the anti-Christianity side of the ledger, I am apparently "abusive," as per community consensus. It isn't true in fact, and I do not appreciate it. Now, if 'atheism' and/or 'atheistic' assertions have a privileged or protected status here at CP, I can live with that. As I told you, I came to CP for the programming, not for the Soapbox. However, it would have been nice to know about that special status beforehand.

There is no special status. This is a programming site. The bottom line is: Have your discussions, do not expect careful, rigourous logic, and if the community decides that your approach is unacceptable then learn to understand what the problem is and work with the community to learn how to interact in a way that is acceptable to all. But if you have an axe to grind take it elsewhere.

In my experience, the troll is the person who consistently posts outrageous and controversial material for the sole purpose of inciting flame. Are you a troll? I haven't visited here enough to tell. But I know a few who consistently troll around here. On most forums they'd be banned in an instant.

He's taking you for a ride Chris. If you trace back through the threads, you'll find he was given ample opportunity to expound his arguments and he declined to take them. People, myself included, attempted to dispute points with him (despite his sillyness), but it was to no avail. When everyone began to ignore him (and rightly so) that's when he started bombing the forums. Despite his claims and protestations, he was treated no differently than anyone else. The difference was in him refusing to cease his obnoxious behaviour and his blatant disrespect for ALL PATRONS of this forum. On numerous occasions did several others and I ask him to stop yet he continued. I suggest you continue to monitor this forum for the next few days as I don't believe he is being genuine.

The soapbox is for posts that aren't appropriate elsewhere. It is not a place to start flame wars, troll, push agendas or abuse the community. It's a forum like any other forum with the same rules of responsibility and civility. This is pathetic and honestly, I'm ready to just close it up.
