Consolas, 8pt or 9pt, depending on the resolution and monitor size. Marc

I tried Consolas last week, after hearing about it on here, didn't like it, went back to Courier New.

In the days of VC6, used Courier New size 10. Didnt like it much but meh, it was a habit from VB5/6. Then in VS2002/2003 used something else, cant remember what (though used Courier New for a while too), and it 2005 I found (and now use) ProggyTiny SlashedZero (http://proggyfonts.com/index.php?menu=download&sort=name[^]). Size 12, but its _small_. And I mean impossibly small, but I get used to it and anything else seems unusable to me.

I'm a fan of VC6 and I get used to the default font in the source code editor, which is fixedsys, size 12. But now I'm trying to use VS2005, I'm very uncomfortable about the new font and I always feel interrupted when coding just because of the font. (and also the speed.) So what's your choice?

The default. It's just not that important to me.* * IOW, I'm too lazy to go in and muck around with the settings until I find something that I really like. The default setting is good enough for me.

The default one (Courier New 10, I assume?). Actually, I would love to try this kind of antiqua[^], but I have no idea, what's the font is that and where to get one. :sigh:

I personally can't stand Courier New because it just takes up so much screen space, and looks awful at small sizes. I love ProFontWindows (8pt) because I grew up programming on a Mac with CodeWarrior using Monaco. I find it super clean and easily readable. Characters are distinct and recognizable. However I've just looked at some of these "Proggy" variations and they look quite nice, esp. Proggy Tiny Slashed Zeroes. Perhaps I'll give it a try. Good question though! I find code font is actually one of the most important settings in your environment. If you have good eyes, you can double the amount of code you can see on screen. I also find bitmapped (non-antialiased) fonts are best for viewing at small resolutions because of the clear contrast. Looking at blurry fonts just hurts the eyes. Cheers. Logan1337 www.piHole.org

well ive been a fan of Verdana for months now, in code and everywhere else. serifs are ugly and fixed width i find is too distracting. 9pt works for my code, on a black background with lots of vibrant neon-colour-esque syntax highlighting. green/navy/black-on-white is so boring.

I love verdana for coding. I find the proportional font much easier on the eye and much more pleasant to read than old skool fixed pitched fonts.

Up until 4 months ago I was using VC6, now I'm using C# in 2003. I used the standard font in both cases, but I change the system default background colour from white to a mint green (195,220,195). A few people comment about it but it saves my eyes from straining by the end of the day! :-)

I use WingDings - it makes coding kinda interesting ;)

I'm a fan of VC6 and I get used to the default font in the source code editor, which is fixedsys, size 12. But now I'm trying to use VS2005, I'm very uncomfortable about the new font and I always feel interrupted when coding just because of the font. (and also the speed.) So what's your choice?

Not exactly font-related, but... I also use the defaults, I only made strings in code highlight to red on yellow bkg. I remember one guy, with which I worked, who was a hard/black/death metal fan and used to have Delphi IDE to his likeness - all black with white fonts. It was very weird to look at. ;)
