Are you kidding?  But maybe this links back to David's reply to mine, since I was a kid thunderstorms meant sit in the conservatory and hope that the lightning would strike the chicken farm across the valleys so that'd we'd end up with roast chickens flying all over the place :-D

CPhogia. :-) My phobias...I've gotten over almost all phobias. I used to fear heights until I went rock climbing and that got me over it. I used to fear roller coasters. Now I love them. I guess I have a kind of social phobia; I avoid social situations regularly. :-) I don't like being around a lot of people I don't know, and I have a hard time chit chatting with people I don't know.

I feel the same way. I'm afraid I'll embarass myself of something.

Snakes! I saw many snakes being killed in front of me when I was a small kid and I am immensely afraid of snakes. I can't even stand rubber snakes and I scream. Since my first car accident about 4 months back, I am afraid to drive in the left lane in a non-divided highway.

I think that happens to a lot of people. My husband's grandma was hit by a drunk driver when she was going to WalMart. She always took the 'back road' after that. People here don't know how to merge onto the interstate. A couple months ago I was almost in an accident because someone STOPPED on the merge lane. It was one of those neiher of us breathed or talked for a couple miles because we knew how close we were to a MAJOR accident. I still hate that exit to merge to the interstate.

When I was little it seemed kids my age were afraid of thunder, but I was afraid of the lightning. Now storms just make me uneasy because my family has been on the receiving end of too many tornadoes.

i thought phobias have to be irrational fear of? most of what's been mentioned here are pretty much reasonable fears to me... i don't think i have a phobia but i was diagnosed to have mild ocd but that's another story... (notice the ellipses at the end of my sentence...) :-)

That reminds me of an old high school friend. He was terrified of spiders. It was definitely a phobia, because he was a strong guy. He went into the Marines and told us how we ended up getting over it. They often had to camp out in these areas and there were all of these holes in the ground. He found out soon enough that the holes had these big spiders. They would be crawling over him all night.

As a kid I ws always scared of staircases that only have the horizontal tread and no vertical piece between them. I dont mind them so much now but I still dont like ladders

System.IO.Path.IsPathRooted() does not behave as I would expect

My husband has a fear of heights. We can't take the escalator or an elevator in which you can see going up/down. As long as the ladder is steady, I have no issues. Hubby can't go past the second step.

Height - if I drive on the outside lane of a high bridge I have to close my eyes. Standing at the window of a 50+ story building isn't fun. Driving the road to Hana was a noghtmare. Fire - death by, has to be the most horrid thing going.

I was just reading a short article on FoxNews about celebrities and their phobias. What are your phobias? I am afraid of spiders and crowded places because I am afraid a fire will break out. I was afraid of fire for years and wasn't sure why. Turns out I mimicked my parents and took the hot car cigarette lighter to my lips as a toddler and hated all hot things after that. I didn't even try to light a match until college. I used to keep a car door open while starting the car in case the car started on fire during startup and then I could make a quicker getaway. I finally conquered that fear. I still hate spiders and will panic at packed places (like the mall during the holidays). Not sure if I will get over those. Anyone willing to admit your phobias? BTW, what would the fear of not being able to read CP be?

I am afraid of questions asked by my seniors. I always forget everything while they started questioning :( . But now I am trying to not be afraid by this by giving answers to all my friends, my juniors and colleagues. And I know I can beat that thing.

I have a phobia for this insect[^], which I don't know how is it called in English, nor I want to know. X| I don't like crowded places, but I wouldn't call it a phobia.

Guys, gather around the fire! Maunder will tell a story.

Everybody wants to get admission in reputed institution, but it is not always possible. But other than reputed colleges there are many good colleges across India. Those colleges also play an important role in building up career. So we have come up with the site www.collegesearch.in which will help you not only search for the colleges but also build up your career.

I hear you. I play guitar and sing at a small Bible study every week, no problem, but I feel awkward trying to talk with random people. Once I get to know people, I'm totally relaxed. My wife is the same way. We both actively avoid social situations where we have to talk to lots of people we don't know.

I'm the same...I used to be very socially awkward, and even now I still struggle a bit until I get to know people a little. That said, I'm getting more and more involved in my Church (in such things as Congregational Care and the organisation of social events) so that can only help. :)
